HGA Architects and Engineers and Perkins + Will collaborated to create an evidence-based design for the expansion of the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford located in Palo Alto, California.

Hybrid surgical suites for Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, designed by HGA, executive architect and medical planner, aimed to utilize design to create a comfortable atmosphere for children and their families while simultaneously incorporating operational efficiencies that ensured the best care. These elements were essential as hospital operating rooms can be intimidating for children with overhead screens and giant machinery. ID + 4.5ʺ Downlights were used to showcase the new environment and bring the patient-friendly design to light, in the surgical rooms and waiting areas.
